Flametree Creative is a Western Australian owned communications consultancy that specialises in creating excellent brands and brand assets. Our clients vary from one-man bands to national companies. We operate on a project basis or in a full service capacity, but our objective is always the same: to clearly differentiate our client’s business to the extent that it becomes or remains a brand leader within its category. To achieve our aims we follow a process of continuous improvement that clearly positions our client’s brand by creating outstanding design solutions and strategies whilst ensuring that the expectations we create are matched by the outcomes desired by our clients.
After graduating from Curtin University with a degree in Design, John specialised in publication design and production, gaining an excellent knowledge of digital processes and print production. He worked as senior designer with Fremantle Arts Centre Press for 10 years utilising his skills in layout, typography and systems management. He has won major national design awards for his work in book design as well as awards marking excellence in print production and interpretative graphics. John formed Brown Cow Design in 1993 which he ran until merging with Brimstone Creative in 2015 to form Flametree Creative. He has served as lead creative to: The City of Fremantle, Fremantle Sailing Club, Halco Tackle, Colgate Aust - N/Z, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, Matsos, Mt Barker Chicken and many more. John has designed books for Richard Woldendorp, City of Perth, UWA Press, The Town of Victoria Park, Holmes a Court Gallery, Linneys, BHP and many others. He had designed interpretative displays such as The Kalgoorlie Prospectors and Miners Hall of Fame, John Curtin Gallery and the Maritime Museum of WA.
A fine artist and graduate of Curtin School of Design, Mark worked in illustration, advertising, creative writing, corporate design and strategy both in Perth and London.
Mark has been developing successful brand and marketing strategies for over 30 years.
Creating and developing local brands like Matsos Brewery, Baileys Fertilisers , Captain Cook Cruises and many well known tourism and familiar household products from inception to market leaders.
Dick started a boutique advertising consultancy that became one of Perth’s leading creative agencies in the 1980s and 1990s. His mentors were Al Haggar, Chairman Young & Rubicam (Australia) and David Abbott, Founder Abbott Meade Vickers. His agency merged with another in the late 1990s and he sold his shareholding to retire two years later while still in his 40s. He subsequently returned to the industry as a creative director and brand strategist. He has served on the Industry Advisory Panel for Curtin University School of Design and his work has received over 100 awards. Clients have included: Anchor Foods, AutoMasters, Bed Shed, Chooks Fresh & Tasty, FAL (Dewsons), Golden Egg Farms, HBF, Home Building Society, John Hughes, Leets, Milne Feeds, San Remo Pasta and the WA Health Dept (Quit & Nutrition).
Hugh graduated from Perth Central TAFE with an Advanced Diploma in graphic design, specialising in brand identity. With 11 years in the industry, Hugh has developed excellent skills across a range of design disciplines, which he uses to produce finely tuned creative work. He thrives on gaining a complete understanding of our client's objectives and delivering creatives with effective outcomes. A lover of aesthetic innovation at a broader level, Hugh has a great appreciation for music, food, art and technology. These inspire him to always be seeking to evolve and learn as a designer and convert this passion into the work he creates.
Since graduating from Curtin University, Grace has spent the last two years at Flametree working as our Multimedia Specialist. Prior to her studies she had worked for an e-commerce company, where she worked in the areas of web development and social media engagement. Grace is a real all-rounder who can effectively work on a variety of digital projects from initial briefing through to completion. She is our go-to person for digital animation, web graphics and front end web development – her vast technical knowledge makes her a great asset to the team. Her skill set spans the Adobe Creative Suite through to specific programming languages.
Tom is the most recent addition to the Flametree Creative team. Having started as an intern in his final year of study. Tom's analytical approach to problem solving and flair for creative design is exceptional in one so young. Tom is a great communicator and organiser, both attributes which he applies in brand development and strategy.
Sarah is our digital strategist. She specialises in planning the means to achieve the maximum website engagement and conversions. Whether it is via paid or organic search, social channels such as Facebook or Instagram, database driven, google display or others, Sarah will formulate the right strategy to stretch your budget while maximising outcomes.
Sarah moved from New Zealand to Perth 15 years ago and worked in various advertising roles. Prior to joining the Flametree team she was working for the City of Fremantle where she was responsible for the marketing of the Cityís Festivals such as the Fremantle Festival. Sarah brought the festivals into the digital age with online applications, bookings, marketing and reporting.
She now applies that experience to our clients.
Displaying remarkable talent (for a Kiwi), Frans makes a great contribution to the Flametree team. He brings his brilliant artistic flair for everything visual into every task he undertakes. He works quickly and his output is considerable – matched only by his enthusiasm. Frans has been a designer for 10 years and has produced striking designs for many of our clients over that time.
